ADD TO WISHLIST >

Detailed character creation and campaign rules allow you to create unique crew members and watch them change and grow as they survive desperate battles on the galactic fringes! All you need to play are a few figures (10mm - 28mm), a handful of six-sided dice, a metric measuring tape, and a yearning to tell cool stories on the tabletop!

A (quite a) few rules questions after the first couple playthroughs:
-Specialists that choose 'Powering Up' gets a total of six Special Traits?
-Special Traits that require a Chance Roll to use again: If you keep succeeding you can keep using it, but if you fail it's lost for the rest of the game?
-Hiding, how does it work? Does it require to be in some sort of area cover like a crater or woods. Will dropping prone behind a low wall take me out of LOS or can I still be Spotted?!
-On page 42 it says that certain Traits require the use of a Special Action, but there really aren't any, unless you count climbing aboard a massive character, what gives?!
-A Savant Starpriest heals and uses Med-Kits on 6D, yes?! But what about Burning, Drowning, locked doors, Emanations of Power and other 'Non-combat TN's'?!
-So how does the Transport Disc work? If the first TN3 roll activates it, what use is a second TN4 roll to discern the location, if you end up there anyway?
-Can you use...See more

“-Specialists that choose 'Powering Up' gets a total of six Special Traits?”

Yes.

“-Special Traits that require a Chance Roll to use again: If you keep succeeding you can keep using it, but if you fail it's lost for the rest of the game?”

If you fail you can try again on your next turn. Usually a free action to do so.

“-Hiding, how does it work? Does it require to be in some sort of area cover like a crater or woods. Will dropping prone behind a low wall take me out of LOS or can I still be Spotted?!”

You need to be in some sort of terrain, or obscurement, to hide. You can’t hide in plain sight unless a trait or gear says otherwise.

“-On page 42 it says that certain Traits require the use of a Special Action, but there really aren't any, unless you count climbing aboard a massive character, what gives?!”

Savant and Star Priest both make use of Special Actions. Anytime you do something significant...See more

Hi Scott -thanks for getting back to me!

This clears things up a lot, especially the rule concerning how many times you can use your Special Traits.

A thing that had us somewhat confused during our first games was when to use Hiding and when just to drop Prone -it seems as if dropping Prone is much more useful: if you drop out of LOS behind a wall you cannot be targeted where as Hiding still makes you a target after a losing the opposed Perception Check.

So we tended to use a tactic where the model would pop up, take a shot and then drop back down in Prone position. I would like your take on this, but I think we will incorporate some sort of check like for Charging enemies you cannot see at the beginning of your turn (TN2) when standing up from Prone. I think we need some kind of overwatch rule too:-)

Going prone is a good tactic for sure.

The advantage of Hiding is you are less likely to be spotted by a potential charger so long as you’re in cover.

Ah yes, of course -Thanks Scott!
Now another thing came up: is the radius for grenades 8cm in 28mm games?

What is the difference between Void Pirates, Blasters & Bulkheads, and Farthest Star?

B&B features the older iteration of Goalsystem. It includes two-part combat resolution--opposed rolls to hit, then opposed rolls to damage.

VP and FS feature a single set of opposed rolls to resolve each combat.

Beyond that, FS uses card-based initiative and includes full Solo, Co-op, and PvP rules. FS features a fuller stat line than VP, and a more developed campaign system. It also features more scenarios. Hope this helps!

Has this been updated recently? What I mean is, are there any differences between your products on drivethrurpg and wargamedownloads? I've always preferred drivethrurpg but for some time I could only find your games on the other site. I'm glad you're on drivethrurpg now. I wish I could have waited but I've already purchased most of your work from the other site. I really like your games. Please keep up the good work.

No, there should be no difference. However, any further updates will only be through Drivethrurpg for reasons I don't want to get into here in a public forum. Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
